Full-bodied Jazzmaster sound, fatter than an original...
Description

Details

FatMaster: our take on the original sound that we believe is what Leo wanted in the first place.  Full bodied sound, bouncy and alive, not thin and lacking girth as original Jazzmaster pickups tend to be.  The midrange is well balanced with the right amount of detail that delivers exceptional clarity and definition.  Exceptional dynamic range (better than a Strat).

Incorporating staggered Alnico-K** rod magnets the sound is alive with dynamic response and oozing with tone and harmonic nuances.  The sweet treble tones have not been compromised by Kinman’s technically advanced 600 Ohm hum cancelling mechanism and are silky and sweet …. never spiky or abrasive.  The transparent midrange is well balanced with the right amount of detail that delivers exceptional clarity and definition, never veiled or muddy.  The huge, lush bass end has a nice kick, some refer to as springy or bouncy sound courtesy of the huge dynamic range.

The 6 rod magnets are Kinman's proprietary Alnico-k** magnets which deliver cleaner sound devoid of string crash.

Middle switch position (bridge and neck FatMasters on together) delivers authentic both-on-together sound with that wonderful hollow clack.  A SurfMaster in the bridge is a great combination to achieve balanced loudness and still delivers a wonderful in-between sound.

Some people will call these noiseless Jazzmaster P-90 pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Jazzmaster pickups.  That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities

** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985.  It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.
